Most of us try to stick to a monthly budget, and a main financial consideration is that of how to feed yourself. For some of us, getting by with the bare minimum of groceries for easy meals is sufficient. Others prefer to cook elaborate meals for themselves and friends. And of course, there are those who have no interest in cooking and prefer to eat out instead. The same variables apply to developing an efficient business model. Whether you prefer “make to order” or “make to forecast,” or even if you simply pay a third party to make your product, careful planning and analysis are needed to ensure that you are getting the most bang for your buck. In the past, shopping out this part of the process may have been the best option, but now it could make more sense to invest in developing in-house manufacturing. Just like planning for meals, every company is different and each situation requires its own unique solution.
